San Clemente 2011

Christian's extended family has been getting together at the beach in San Clemente, California every year since Christian's dad was a little boy. The tradition continues. Here's Claire's first official week at the beach:

Gone

We are gone. Outta here. Adios. I can almost consider myself a Utahn, considering the fact that I lived in Utah for a combined 13.8 years of my life (Oregon for the other 11). Even though I adamantly claimed to be an Oregonian during my BYU years (sounds so much cooler than being from Utah, right?), by the time I was married Provo was becoming home. Every time we rolled back into P-town after time away, I breathed a sigh of relief - we were home. So as the reality of our move sunk in as we finished packing the van I blinked back teary eyes. I was really going to miss this home - especially the towering mountains that are so close they practically fall on top of you. The cool summer evenings, the soft grass, the Provo river trail basically in my backyard, BYU and its apartments south of campus - holding many college memories. And especially, my family. There are many reasons Heavenly Father wanted us to stay and extra year in Provo rather than get into dental school the first try. One of the big ones was my family getting to be close to Claire her first six months of life. Its been such a blessing to have their support and love only twenty minutes away.

This new chapter will be different. It will have its challenging, lonely moments - but it will bring more happiness. Because what satisfaction and joy happens without any sacrifice? It will lay a foundation for the rest of our lives. We're excited to be where we are.

Summer time is family time

This summer has been full of lots of family get-togethers and reunions. Summer is such a happy and delicious time (except for when summer smells trigger memories of morning sickness last year - oh man glad I've been able to enjoy bbq's this time around)
The fourth of July brought us to the Furse/Raleigh reunion at Camp Koholowo up Payson Canyon. It consisted of my dad and his siblings and my cousins. The most exciting part was definitely the small earthquake that felt like a explosion had gone off. My cousin's husband even saw the ground ripple like a wave outside.

The mountains are so green this year from all the snow and rain Utah got this winter/spring

Christian's sister Laura and her girls stopped by one afternoon. We ate orange julius' and then went to splash in the fountains at the Riverwoods before a huge thunderstorm blew us out.

Daddy decided to run through the water with Claire in their clothes!
